What We Do
Our mission is simple: to help A/E/C principals interested in buying or selling a firm connect with other firm principals in a position to make that happen, either across town, in another state, or in even another country. AECmatch is the global, searchable, actionable database of architecture, engineering, and construction firms interested in either buying another firm or being acquired.
How It Works
AECmatch is the fast and easy business information exchange platform introducing buyers and sellers of privately held architecture, engineering, and construction firms. AECmatch listings are a catalyst, helping principals meet strategic growth and ownership transition goals by connecting them with the perfect buy/sell transaction counterparty.
Buying and Selling a Firm:
All users, both on the buy-side and sell-side, register once by creating a secure account, which is typically approved and activated within 2 business days.
Sellers: A/E/C principals or representatives selling a firm create a Sellers Listing that provides basic and non-identifying financial and market information to potential buyers researching acquisition targets.
AECmatch limits how much and what kind of information sellers include in this initial listing, to prevent unwanted broadcast of intentions to employees, vendors, clients, and business partners. The listing only provides general information about the firm’s annual revenue and areas of expertise.
Registered buyers interested in learning more about a specific seller sign a legally binding Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) and submit it, via AECmatch’s secure document platform, to the seller for approval. Only upon the seller’s approval of the NDA does AECmatch reveal to the interested buyer the seller’s name, contact information, and more substantive insight on the firm. The seller and potential buyer are then free to independently pursue discussions via email, phone, or face-to-face meeting. This marks the end of AECmatch’s involvement in any transaction that might ensue.
Buyers: Registered buyers enter search criteria to narrow the field of selling firms to those meeting specific geographic, market specialty, revenue, employee count, and other requirements. The resulting curated list of potential acquisition targets conceals all firm names and their principals, instead generating random non-identifying codes to differentiate firms.
AECmatch then presents the buyer with a legally binding non-disclosure agreement (NDA) that the buyer must sign and submit to AECmatch for forwarding to the potential acquisition target. Once the target has approved the NDA, AECmatch reveals to the buyer more substantive information about the selling firm, along with contact information for facilitating additional independent discussions. This marks the end of AECmatch’s involvement in any transaction that might ensue.
More than an M&A resource, AECmatch connects architecture and engineering firms with complimentary skill sets, technology expertise, business relationships and financial resources, all to create successful project-specific partnerships and win more profitable work.
Here’s how it works: Just post a description of your perfect partnering firm, highlighting your project’s demands, strengths your firm brings to the table, and where you need help to win and execute the contract. Then, review proposals and respond to those that best match your needs.
Don’t have a potential project in the pipeline? No problem! You can also review other firms’ requests to see where your firm’s expertise and resources are the missing piece to their puzzle, and respond accordingly.
Either way, AECmatch brings firms together to land better work and drive more revenue.
